Description

This Amish Apple Fritter Bread Recipe combines the flavors of apples, cinnamon, and ginger in a moist and delicious loaf. Topped with a sweet glaze, it’s perfect for breakfast or dessert.

Ingredients

Scale

  • 2 medium baking apples, peeled and chopped
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • 1/3 cup white granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup full-fat sour cream, room temperature
  • 2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • Glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar, sifted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 tablespoon milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven and prepare the pan: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. Mix the dry ingredients: In a bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and ginger.
  3. Mix the wet ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together the egg, sugars, oil, sour cream, and vanilla.
  4. Combine wet and dry ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Fold in the chopped apples.
  5. Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for about 45-50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Make the glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk until smooth.
  7. Glaze the bread: Once the bread has cooled slightly, drizzle the glaze over the top. Slice and serve.

Notes

  • This bread is best served warm or at room temperature.
  • You can add chopped nuts or raisins to the batter for added texture.
