Description

These Caramel Chocolate Pretzel Rods are the perfect combination of sweet, salty, and crunchy. With a caramel coating, a layer of rich chocolate, and a sprinkle of flaky sea salt, they make a delicious treat for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale

Pretzels

  • 14 thick pretzel rods

Caramel Coating

  • 40 soft caramels (such as Werther’s Original)
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream

Chocolate Coating

  • 12 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips or chocolate melting wafers

Toppings

  • Flaky sea salt, for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. Prepare the pretzels: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside. Insert a wooden skewer into each pretzel rod.
  2. Melt the caramels: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the caramels and heavy cream. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth.
  3. Coat the pretzels: Dip each pretzel rod into the caramel mixture, coating it evenly. Place on the prepared baking sheet and let set.
  4. Melt the chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips or wafers in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth.
  5. Coat the pretzels with chocolate: Dip each caramel-coated pretzel into the melted chocolate, coating it completely. Place back on the baking sheet.
  6. Add toppings: Sprinkle the chocolate-coated pretzels with flaky sea salt while the chocolate is still wet.
  7. Let set: Allow the chocolate to set at room temperature or refrigerate until firm. Enjoy!

Notes

  • You can customize these pretzel rods by adding crushed nuts, sprinkles, or drizzling with additional caramel or chocolate.
