Description

Chicken Paprikash is a classic Hungarian dish with tender chicken simmered in a flavorful paprika sauce, finished with a creamy sour cream topping.

  • 1 kg Chicken thighs and drumsticks
  • 2 tablespoon butter
  • 1 medium Onion chopped
  • 3 cloves Garlic minced
  • 3 tablespoon Sweet Hungarian Paprika
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)
  • 2 cups Chicken Broth (up to 2.5 cups if you want more sauce)
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
  • ¾ cup Sour Cream
  • 1.5 tablespoon Flour
  • 1 tablespoon of Water

Instructions

  1. Prep the Chicken: Season chicken with salt and pepper.
  2. Sear the Chicken: In a large skillet, brown the chicken in butter. Remove and set aside.
  3. Sauté Onion and Garlic: In the same skillet, cook onion and garlic until softened.
  4. Add Paprika and Broth: Stir in sweet and smoked paprika, then add chicken broth.
  5. Simmer: Return chicken to the skillet, cover, and simmer until chicken is cooked through.
  6. Thicken Sauce: Mix flour and water, then stir into the sauce to thicken.
  7. Finish with Sour Cream: Remove from heat and stir in sour cream.
  8. Serve: Serve hot over noodles or rice.
