Description

These Christmas M&M cookies are a festive treat perfect for the holiday season. Soft and chewy cookie dough filled with red and green M&Ms, these cookies are sure to be a hit at any holiday gathering.

Cookie Dough

  • ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
  • ⅔ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Mix-ins and Toppings

  • 1 ½ cups red and green M&Ms, divided (1 cup mixed into dough, ½ cup pressed on tops)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cream butter and sugars: In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add wet ingredients: Mix in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. Combine dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Combine wet and dry ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
  6. Add M&Ms: Gently fold in 1 cup of M&Ms into the cookie dough.
  7. Form cookie dough balls: Scoop out tablespoon-sized balls of dough and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  8. Add toppings: Press the remaining ½ cup of M&Ms onto the tops of the cookie dough balls.
  9. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
  10. Cool: Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • You can substitute the red and green M&Ms with regular M&Ms or chocolate chips for a different twist.
  • Make sure to not overbake the cookies to keep them soft and chewy.
