Cube Steak is a classic comfort food dish that features tenderized steak coated in a flavorful gravy. This recipe is hearty, delicious, and perfect for a satisfying meal.
Ingredients
– 1/2 cup Vegetable oil
– 1 large onion, sliced
– 1/3 cup Flour
– 1/2 tsp Garlic Powder
– 1/2 tsp Salt
– 1/2 tsp Pepper
– 1 1/2 lbs Cubed Steak
– 14 oz Beef Broth
– 1 packet Lipton Onion Soup Mix
– 1 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
Instructions
1. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
2. In a shallow dish, mix together flour, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
3. Dredge cubed steak in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess.
4. Brown the steak in the hot oil on both sides, then remove and set aside.
5. In the same skillet, sauté onion until softened.
6. Add beef broth, onion soup mix, and Worcestershire sauce to the skillet, stirring to combine.
7. Return the steak to the skillet, cover, and simmer for about 30 minutes until steak is tender.
8. Serve the cube steak with the gravy over mashed potatoes or rice.
Notes
– For a thicker gravy, mix 2 tbsp of flour with 1/4 cup of water and whisk into the skillet.
– Add sliced mushrooms to the gravy for an extra depth of flavor.
