- 1 cup whole milk (240g), warm (around 110F)
- 3 teaspoons active dry yeast or instant yeast
- ⅓ cup sugar (70g)
- 3 ¾ cup all purpose flour (490g)
- 1 large egg
- 1.5 teaspoon salt
- 6 tbsp unsalted butter, softened at room temperature (85g)
Egg wash:

- 1 egg yolk and 1 tablespoon milk
Garlic butter:

- ¼ cup salted butter (57g)
- 2–3 garlic cloves, finely chopped
- 1–2 tablespoon freshly chopped parsley
Instructions
- Prepare the dough: Mix warm milk, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for 5 minutes. Add flour, egg, salt, and butter. Knead until smooth.
- Rise: Let the dough rise until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
- Shape: Divide dough into rolls, place on a baking sheet, and let rise again for 30 minutes.
- Bake: Brush with egg wash and bake at 375F for 15-20 minutes.
- Make garlic butter: Melt butter, add garlic, and parsley. Brush on warm rolls before serving.
Notes
- Make sure the milk is at the correct temperature to activate the yeast.
- You can customize the garlic butter with herbs like rosemary or thyme.
