Description
Fatteh is a delicious Middle Eastern dish featuring layers of crispy pita chips, creamy hummus, tangy yogurt sauce, and chickpeas, topped with crunchy pine nuts, pomegranate seeds, and fresh herbs.

Hummus:
- 1 cup hummus
- 1 cup chickpeas, cooked
- ½ teaspoon cumin
Pita Chips:
- 2 pita breads
- 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- ½ teaspoon salt
Yogurt Sauce:
- ⅔ cup yogurt, unsweetened non-dairy, plain, or Greek-style
- 3 tablespoons tahini
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 small clove garlic
- ½ teaspoon cumin
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 2 twists black pepper
- 4 to 6 tablespoons water
Garnish:
- 2 tablespoons pine nuts, toasted
- 4 tablespoons pomegranate seeds
- 1 handful mint leaves, chopped
- 1 handful flat-leaf parsley, chopped
- 1 pinch sumac or paprika
Instructions
- Prepare Pita Chips: Cut pita bread into small pieces, toss with olive oil and salt, bake until crispy.
- Make Yogurt Sauce: Blend yogurt, tahini, lemon juice, garlic, cumin, salt, pepper, and water until smooth.
- Assemble Fatteh: Layer pita chips, hummus, chickpeas, and yogurt sauce in a dish. Top with pine nuts, pomegranate seeds, herbs, and sumac or paprika.
Notes
- You can customize Fatteh by adding roasted vegetables or grilled meat.
- Adjust the consistency of the yogurt sauce by adding more or less water based on your preference.
