Description

These French Dip Sliders are a delicious twist on the classic sandwich, featuring tender roast beef and melted Swiss cheese on slider buns, served with a flavorful au jus dipping sauce.

Ingredients

Scale

Sliders

  • 15 ounces (12-count) package of slider buns (Martin’s brand Potato Rolls)
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter divided into 4 tablespoons and 2 tablespoons
  • 3 cups thinly sliced yellow onion from 1 large onion
  • 3 teaspoons fresh thyme leaves divided into 2 teaspoons and 1 teaspoon
  • 2 teaspoons grated garlic from 2 cloves, divided in half
  • ½ teaspoon granulated sugar
  • ¾ teaspoon salt divided into ½ teaspoon and ¼ teaspoon
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • pounds thinly sliced deli roast beef cut into 1-inch wide strips
  • ½ pound Swiss cheese thinly sliced

Au Jus dipping sauce

  • 10.5 ounces can French onion soup Campbell’s brand
  • 1½ cups water
  • 1 ounce packet of Au Jus mix

Instructions

  1. Caramelize Onions: In a skillet, melt 4 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Add onions, 2 teaspoons thyme, half of grated garlic, sugar, ½ teaspoon salt, and pepper. Cook until onions are caramelized.
  2. Assemble Sliders: Split slider buns, layer roast beef, Swiss cheese, and caramelized onions. Place in a baking dish.
  3. Make Au Jus: In a saucepan, combine French onion soup, water, Au Jus mix, 2 tablespoons butter, 1 teaspoon thyme, ¼ teaspoon salt, and remaining garlic. Simmer until heated through.
  4. Bake Sliders: Pour half of Au Jus over sliders, cover with foil, and bake until cheese melts. Serve with remaining Au Jus for dipping.

Notes

  • You can customize these sliders with your favorite cheese or additional toppings like mushrooms or peppers.
  • For a quicker version, you can use pre-made Au Jus or beef broth instead of making it from scratch.
