Description

These homemade mozzarella sticks are crispy on the outside and ooey-gooey on the inside, making them the perfect appetizer or snack. Serve with marinara sauce for dipping!

  • 1 ½ cups (106 g) plain Panko
  • ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon dried parsley
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon table salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup (63 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 lb whole milk mozzarella block or 15 whole milk string cheese
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Marinara sauce for dipping

Instructions

  1. Prepare the breading: In a shallow dish, mix Panko, Italian seasoning, parsley, garlic powder, black pepper, and salt. In another dish, beat the eggs. Place flour in a separate dish.
  2. Cut the mozzarella: Cut the mozzarella block into sticks or use string cheese.
  3. Bread the mozzarella: Coat each mozzarella stick in flour, dip in egg, then coat in the seasoned Panko mixture.
  4. Freeze the sticks: Place the breaded sticks on a baking sheet and freeze for at least 30 minutes.
  5. Fry the mozzarella sticks: Heat oil in a pan and fry the sticks until golden brown.
  6. Serve: Drain on paper towels and serve hot with marinara sauce for dipping.

Notes

  • Make sure the oil is hot enough before frying to prevent the sticks from becoming oily.
  • For a healthier alternative, bake the sticks in the oven instead of frying.
