These homemade mozzarella sticks are crispy on the outside and ooey-gooey on the inside, making them the perfect appetizer or snack. Serve with marinara sauce for dipping!

- 1 ½ cups (106 g) plain Panko
- ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
- ½ teaspoon dried parsley
- ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
- ¼ teaspoon table salt
- 2 large eggs
- ½ cup (63 g) all-purpose flour
- 1 lb whole milk mozzarella block or 15 whole milk string cheese
- Vegetable oil for frying
- Marinara sauce for dipping
Instructions
- Prepare the breading: In a shallow dish, mix Panko, Italian seasoning, parsley, garlic powder, black pepper, and salt. In another dish, beat the eggs. Place flour in a separate dish.
- Cut the mozzarella: Cut the mozzarella block into sticks or use string cheese.
- Bread the mozzarella: Coat each mozzarella stick in flour, dip in egg, then coat in the seasoned Panko mixture.
- Freeze the sticks: Place the breaded sticks on a baking sheet and freeze for at least 30 minutes.
- Fry the mozzarella sticks: Heat oil in a pan and fry the sticks until golden brown.
- Serve: Drain on paper towels and serve hot with marinara sauce for dipping.
Notes
- Make sure the oil is hot enough before frying to prevent the sticks from becoming oily.
- For a healthier alternative, bake the sticks in the oven instead of frying.
