For the Cake Layers:
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour

- ½ tsp salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened

- 1 cup whole milk
For the Chocolate Layer:
- ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 tbsp milk
For the Strawberry Layer:
- ¼ cup strawberry puree (or strawberry jam)
- 2–3 drops red food coloring (optional, for vibrancy)
For the Frosting:
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 2–3 tbsp heavy cream
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Prepare the Cake Layers: Mix dry ingredients, cream butter and sugar, add eggs and vanilla, alternate with dry ingredients and milk, divide batter into 3 portions.
- Make the Chocolate Layer: Mix cocoa powder and milk, spread on one cake layer.
- Create the Strawberry Layer: Mix strawberry puree and food coloring, spread on another cake layer.
- Assemble the Cake: Stack layers with frosting in between.
- Decorate: Frost the cake with buttercream frosting.
Notes
- For a stronger strawberry flavor, use fresh strawberries instead of jam.
- Adjust the food coloring to achieve the desired shade of pink for the strawberry layer.
