Description

These Maple Glazed Oatmeal Cookies are a delightful treat with a perfect balance of sweetness and warmth. The soft, chewy cookies are infused with maple flavor and topped with a delicious maple glaze.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Cookies:

  • 1 stick (8 tablespoons) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon maple extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 & 1/3 cups old-fashioned oats

For the Maple Glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
  • 12 tablespoons milk (as needed for consistency)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cream together the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the egg, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and maple extract until well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. Stir in the oats until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  6. Scoop the dough onto the prepared baking sheet and flatten slightly with a fork.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  8. While the cookies cool, prepare the maple glaze by whisking together the powdered sugar, melted butter, maple syrup, and milk until smooth.
  9. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled cookies and allow it to set before serving.

Notes

  • For extra maple flavor, you can add a touch more maple extract to both the cookie dough and the glaze.
  • Feel free to add chopped nuts or dried fruits to the cookie dough for added texture and flavor.
