Ingredients
Scale
- 6 large eggs
- Vinegar (optional for boiling eggs)
- ¼ medium yellow onion finely chopped (about ⅓ cup)
- 3 cloves garlic minced (about 2 TBSP)
- 1 stalk green onion sliced
- 1 chili pepper finely chopped or sliced* (optional for spice)
- 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seed
- 10 tablespoons soy sauce (½ cup + 2 TBSP)
- 5 tablespoons honey (rice syrup and corn syrup are fine too)
- ¼ cup water
Instructions
- Boil the eggs: Place the eggs in a pot of water with a splash of vinegar and bring to a boil. Once boiled, remove from heat, cool, and peel.
- Prepare marinade: In a bowl, mix together the chopped onion, garlic, green onion, chili pepper, sesame seeds, soy sauce, honey, and water.
- Marinate the eggs: Place the peeled eggs in a container and pour the marinade over them. Let them marinate in the fridge for at least a few hours, or overnight for best results.
- Serve: Slice the marinated eggs and enjoy as a snack or appetizer.
Notes
- You can adjust the amount of chili pepper used to control the level of spiciness in the eggs.
- Make sure the eggs are fully submerged in the marinade for maximum flavor.
