Description

These Nashville Hot Mozzarella Sticks are a spicy twist on a classic appetizer. The crispy outside and gooey inside make them irresistible, especially when paired with cool ranch dressing for dipping.


Ingredients

  • 1 (16 ounce) block mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon kosher salt, divided
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper, divided
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 2 teaspoons hot sauce
  • 1 1/3 cups seasoned breadcrumbs
  • 2/3 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 4 tablespoons paprika, divided
  • 2 cups vegetable oil for frying, or more as needed
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 3 tablespoons cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • ranch dressing for dipping

Instructions

  1. Cut and Coat Cheese: Cut mozzarella into sticks, coat in flour mixture.
  2. Dip in Egg Mixture: Dip in egg mixture with hot sauce.
  3. Coat in Breadcrumbs: Coat in breadcrumb mixture.
  4. Fry: Fry until golden brown and crispy.
  5. Make Hot Seasoning: Combine paprika, cayenne, brown sugar, and garlic powder.
  6. Toss in Hot Seasoning: Toss fried sticks in hot seasoning.
  7. Serve: Serve hot with ranch dressing for dipping.

Notes

  • Make sure oil is hot enough for frying to ensure crispy sticks.
  • Adjust cayenne pepper for desired level of spiciness.
