Main Ingredients:
- 400g (14 oz) pasta (penne or rigatoni)
- 800g (28 oz) canned whole tomatoes or fresh tomatoes, chopped
- 250g (9 oz) mozzarella cheese, diced
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 50g (1/4 cup) grated Parmesan cheese
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- Fresh basil leaves, to taste
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Cook Pasta: Boil pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- Prepare Sauce: In a large pan, heat olive oil and sauté onions and garlic until translucent. Add tomatoes, salt, pepper, and fresh basil. Cook for about 10 minutes.
- Assemble: Add cooked pasta to the sauce and mix well. Pour half of the pasta into a baking dish. Top with half of the mozzarella and Parmesan. Repeat with the remaining pasta and cheeses.
- Bake: Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for about 20 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Serve: Garnish with fresh basil leaves and enjoy hot.

- You can add cooked Italian sausage or ground beef for a meaty version.
- Feel free to use fresh herbs like oregano or thyme for added flavor.
