Description

These Philly Cheesesteak Egg Rolls are a delicious twist on a classic sandwich, with savory ribeye steak, peppers, onions, and gooey provolone cheese all wrapped up in a crispy egg roll wrapper. Serve them with a creamy chipotle sauce for a flavorful appetizer or snack!

  • 1 lb ribeye steak, shaved/sliced thinly
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, divided
  • 1/2 cup chopped yellow onion
  • 1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper
  • 1/2 cup chopped red bell pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon worcestershire
  • 11 egg roll wrappers
  • 7 ounces provolone cheese, sliced in half
  • 1.5 quarts peanut oil (or vegetable/canola oil)

Chipotle Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 4 chipotle peppers in adobo sauce
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt

Instructions

  1. Prep the chipotle sauce: Combine all ingredients in a food processor and blend until smooth. Refrigerate.
  2. Prep the steak: Pulse the steak in a food processor. Set aside.
  3. Making the egg roll filling: Cook onions, peppers, then brown the steak. Season and combine.
  4. Assemble the egg rolls: Fill wrappers with meat mixture and cheese, roll up tightly.
  5. Fry the egg rolls: Heat oil, fry egg rolls until golden brown and crispy.
  6. Serve: Serve with chipotle sauce for dipping.
