Description

A delicious recipe for soft and chewy red velvet crinkle cookies with a hint of cocoa powder. These cookies are perfect for holiday gatherings or a sweet treat any time of year.

Ingredients

Scale

    • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
    • 3/4 cup light brown sugar, packed
    • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
    • 2 large eggs, room temperature
    • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
    • 1/2 teaspoon professional red food coloring*
    • 2 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1/3 cup cocoa powder
    • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt

For the coating:

    • 1/2 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Cream butter and sugars: In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Add wet ingredients: Mix in the eggs, vanilla extract, and red food coloring until well combined.
  3. Combine dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Combine wet and dry ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until the dough comes together.
  5. Chill dough: Cover the dough and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  6. Shape and coat cookies: Preheat oven to 350°F. Shape dough into balls, roll in powdered sugar, and place on a baking sheet.
  7. Bake: Bake for 10-12 minutes until the edges are set. Let cool before serving.

Notes

  • For a more intense red color, add more food coloring as needed.
  • Do not overbake the cookies to keep them soft and chewy.
