For the Meatballs:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
For the Gravy:
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 onion, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water
- Salt and pepper to taste
For the Mashed Potatoes:
- 2 lbs potatoes, peeled and chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup milk
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
- Prepare the Meatballs: In a bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and thyme. Shape into meatballs.
- Cook the Meatballs: Brown meatballs in a skillet. Remove and set aside.
- Make the Gravy: In the same skillet, sauté onion and garlic. Add beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and cornstarch mixture. Cook until thickened.
- Prepare Mashed Potatoes: Boil potatoes until tender. Mash with garlic, milk, butter, salt, and pepper.
- Serve: Plate meatballs over mashed potatoes and pour gravy over them. Garnish with fresh parsley.
Notes
- Add a splash of cream to the mashed potatoes for extra richness.
- You can substitute ground turkey for ground beef in the meatballs for a lighter option.
