Description

Spicy Cold Tofu, also known as Liangban Dofu, is a refreshing and flavorful dish perfect for hot days. The combination of spicy bean paste, soy sauce, and sesame oil creates a bold and savory flavor that pairs well with the soft tofu and optional century eggs.


Ingredients

  • Main Ingredients:

    • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
    • 1 tablespoon spicy bean paste
    • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
    • ½ teaspoon sugar
    • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
    • 2 tablespoons scallion (chopped)
    • 1 pound silken tofu (or soft tofu)
  • Optional Ingredients:

    • 12 century eggs (peeled and cut into small wedges)
    • 1 tablespoon chopped cilantro (and/or Thai basil)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dressing: In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, spicy bean paste, sesame oil, sugar, garlic, and scallion.
  2. Prepare the Tofu: Cut the tofu into cubes and place in a serving dish.
  3. Assemble the Dish: Pour the dressing over the tofu. Add century eggs and cilantro on top if desired.
  4. Serve: Chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • You can adjust the spiciness by adding more or less spicy bean paste.
  • Century eggs add a unique flavor to the dish, but feel free to omit them if preferred.
