- 2 cups Fresh blackberries
- 2 tablespoon White granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon Fresh lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon Lemon zest
- 1 Cinnamon stick
- ¼ cup Water
- 1 tablespoon Cornstarch
Black Cocoa Frosting
- 8 oz Cream cheese softened
- ½ cup Unsalted butter softened
- 3 cups Powdered sugar sifted
- 1 cup Black cocoa powder sifted
- ¼ teaspoon Salt
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract

Instructions
- Prepare the Black Velvet Cake: Combine dry ingredients, mix wet ingredients, and then mix everything together. Bake in cake pans.
- Make the Blackberry Compote Filling: Cook blackberries, sugar, lemon juice, zest, cinnamon, and water until thickened. Mix cornstarch with water, add to the mixture, and cook until thick.
- Create the Black Cocoa Frosting: Beat cream cheese and butter, then add powdered sugar, cocoa powder, salt, and vanilla. Mix until smooth.
- Assemble the Cake: Layer cake, blackberry compote, and frosting. Repeat for all layers. Frost the cake and decorate with chocolate skulls, blackberries, and rose petals.
