For the Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 3 green onions, white and green parts thinly sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated

Instructions

  1. Slice the flank steak and coat with cornstarch: Thinly slice the flank steak against the grain and coat with cornstarch in a ziploc bag.
  2. Mix the sauce: Combine soy sauce, brown sugar, water, cornstarch, and red pepper flakes in a bowl.
  3. Cook the beef: Cook the beef in coconut oil until crispy, then set aside.
  4. Cook the sauce: Stir fry green onions, garlic, and ginger, then add the sauce and cook until thickened.
  5. Combine and serve: Add the beef back to the pan, mix with the sauce, and serve over rice.
