- 5 pounds Yukon gold potatoes
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 cloves garlic, minced or pressed
- 1 tablespoon all purpose flour
- 1 cup heavy cream, substitute whole milk or half and half
Seasonings:
- 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, optional
- 1 teaspoon fresh thyme
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Heat the oven and prepare the baking dish: Preheat the oven to 400°F and grease a ceramic baking dish.
- Slice the potatoes: Using a mandolin or knife, thinly slice the potatoes.
- Prepare the sauce: Melt butter, cook garlic, add flour, heavy cream, and seasonings. Stir until thickened.
- Coat potatoes: Combine sliced potatoes with the sauce in a bowl.
- Arrange and bake: Stack the potatoes in the dish, pour any extra sauce, and bake covered, then uncovered until golden brown.
