Description

These hibachi steak bowls are a delicious and satisfying meal featuring tender sirloin steak marinated in a flavorful mix of mirin, garlic, and ginger, served with sautéed veggies and fragrant fried rice, and topped with a drizzle of teriyaki sauce and Yum Yum Sauce.


Ingredients

Steak Marinade:

    • 2 lbs top sirloin steak, cut into rough chunks
    • 1 tablespoon mirin
    • 6 cloves of garlic, finely minced or pressed
    • 2 teaspoons ginger paste
    • 2 tablespoons plus 1 teaspoon sesame oil, divided
    • 1/2 teaspoon ground white pepper (or black pepper)
    • Kosher salt, to taste

Sautéed Veggies:

    • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, divided
    • 3 medium carrots, thinly cut on a bias
    • 2 medium zucchinis, sliced in half lengthwise & then cut into half moons
    • 45 ounces sliced mushrooms
    • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
    • 12 tablespoons teriyaki sauce or Japanese BBQ Sauce

For Serving:

  • Fried rice
  • Store-bought Yum Yum Sauce

Instructions

  1. Prep & marinate steak: Combine steak with mirin, garlic, ginger, sesame oil, pepper, and salt. Marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Sauté veggies: Cook carrots, zucchini, and mushrooms in butter and sesame oil until tender and browned.
  3. Cook steak: Sear marinated steak in butter and sesame oil, then toss with teriyaki or BBQ sauce.
  4. Build the bowls & serve: Divide steak, veggies, and fried rice into bowls, and drizzle with Yum Yum Sauce.

  • Adjust the seasoning and sauce to taste.
