These Marinated Greek Beef Souvlaki Skewers are a delicious and flavorful dish perfect for grilling. The beef is marinated in a mixture of lemon, garlic, and herbs, then threaded onto skewers with colorful bell peppers and onions.


Ingredients

For the Beef Souvlaki & marinade:

  • 1 kg top sirloin beef cut in chunks (35 oz.)
  • 2 tsps mustard
  • 12 tsps honey
  • juice of 1 lemon
  • zest of 1 lemon
  • 1/2 tsp hot paprika
  • 6 tbsps olive oil
  • salt to taste
  • freshly ground black and pink peppercorns (to taste)
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 2 tsps fresh thyme
  • 1 clove of garlic, minced

For assembling the beef skewers:

  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 red bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • salt and pepper
  • 910 wooden skewers

Instructions

  1. Prepare the beef: Cut the beef into cubes and set aside.
  2. Make the marinade: Combine all marinade ingredients with the beef, cover, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  3. Prepare vegetables: Cut peppers and onions, toss with oil, and season.
  4. Thread skewers: Alternate beef, peppers, and onions on skewers.
  5. Cook skewers: Grill skewers for 8 minutes, turning every 2 minutes.
  6. Rest and serve: Let skewers rest before serving.

Notes

  • For added flavor, marinate the beef overnight.
  • Soak wooden skewers before grilling to prevent burning.
